The most obvious reason a park should be added to an urban metropolitan area is simply for aesthetics. Parks are pretty and that will draw people into that area. Everyone loves strolling through a park and the urban landscape surrounding it just intensifies its beauty. Whether the park has a rippling creek or wood paths it gives the city a little extra life and color. It will brighten up the grays and browns of the buildings surrounding it and give everyone an extra sense of pride to their store fronts and offices surrounding it.

Parks also have added health benefits. One of the largest health benefits is giving people a place to walk or jog, allowing them to get into the fresh air and be active. This can make a huge physical health benefit for many people. Parks also offer a mental health benefit. Most people who have the opportunity to get outside and even just sit on a park bench will return work feeling refreshed and energized.

All of these factors need to be taken into consideration by urban planners to better help their communities. Parks will increase the pride for the neighborhood and give the residents of the urban area a healthy playground for their mind and body. The options are limitless for an urban park.
